Family Promise

We have guests coming! Come help us share the love of God with our Family Promise guests!

We will begin our next Family Promise hosting on March 15.

Our Family Promise guests will be at our church from March 15th through March 22nd.  If you are interested in participating, there are several ways in which you can help.  First, we need people willing to serve as evening and overnight hosts. Next, we need donations for breakfast and lunch foods. And finally, we will be providing evening meals for them. Descriptions of each role with further information can be found on the sign-up genius sites. Links are listed below. For any other questions, feel free to contact Scott and Cindy Raboci at 717-425-0672 or .

Thank you for being a sweet blessing!

JOB DESCRIPTIONS FOR FAMILY PROMISE VOLUNTEERS

Evening Hosts come to the church, eat the evening meal and visit with the parents and children from 6pm-8:30pm.  Families may be tired and go to their rooms after dinner, but your presence is still critical to protect both the families and the church facility.
  • Make sure the door unlocks after 6pm. (Doors are programmed to unlock once a fob is used after 6pm).
  • Reheat meal that is brought if needed.
  • Get out serving utensils or anything needed for the meal.
  • Make sure that lemonade and/or iced tea is made for dinner. Drink mix is in the cabinet to the left of the serving opening.
  • Eat dinner with families. (Take your portion last to ensure the families have plenty of food).
  • Encourage families to clean their silverware and serving utensils, and put leftover food away  (You are welcome to do these tasks if you want to, but the families know that cleanup is expected)
  • Play with children and/or visit with the families.
  • Check trash cans.  If full, take out trash to the outside bins and replace the bag.
  • Stay until the overnight hosts arrive.
If there are any problems or questions, contact Scott and Cindy Raboci.

Overnight hosts arrive by 8:15pm, sleep at the church, and stay until the families are picked up by the van the next morning. Pick up times vary between 5am to 7:30 am because of work and school schedules.  Departure times can be found on the van driver sheet on the kitchen counter or in Room 201.
  • Air mattresses will be provided.  Please bring your pillow, blanket, sleeping bag, or sheets for a single/double bed.
  • If you so desire, you can play with the kids and/or talk with the families.
  • Quiet time begins at 9pm. Start turning off overhead lights in the center and east side of fellowship hall at 8:45pm.  Turn on night lights and the light above the kitchen sink.  Turn off kitchen and hall lights.
  • Check the parking lot door after 9pm.  It is programmed to lock automatically.
  • Get a good night’s sleep.  There is a white noise machine in the closet of Room 201.
  • 5-10  minutes prior to the van leaving, knock on their doors if the families are not awake.  This ensures that the van leaves on time.
  • Encourage families to take any food along with them that has been provided by our church to use for breakfast or lunch.
  • If the van driver does not show up, contact Nina Hoover.
  • Once van leaves, check rooms to make sure there are no fire hazards, but don’t go through the families’ belongings.
  • Check that the parking lot door is locked when you leave the church.
If there are any problems or questions, contact Scott and Cindy Raboci.

Evening meal providers
  • Have your dinner to the church kitchen by 6pm and provide the evening host with any needed instructions.

Food donations for lunch and breakfast
  • Have your donations to the upstairs kitchen at church by noon on Sunday at the start of our hosting week.
