Famine
Friday March 22 12:00 pm - Saturday March 23 6:00 pm
Famine is our annual Youth event in which the youth will go without food for 30 hours in order to raise awareness and funds for hunger around the world. They will go hungry, so that others will not have to. This year funds raised by Thrive youth will go directly to hunger based ministries led by our missionary partners: Macha Hospital in Zambia, Matt & Julie Walsh in Burkina Faso, Andi & Krishauna Brubaker in Guatemala — via their respective 501(c)(3) organizations. More information is available here. If you have not been contacted with a youth about sponsoring them during this famine, feel free to approach one of our youth to find out more.

A mandated reporter is an adult required to report suspected child abuse if they have reasonable cause to suspect that  a child is a victim of child abuse. If you volunteer in Children's or Youth  Ministry, you are a mandated reporter. This training promotes child  safety by increasing the knowledge of mandated reporters regarding the identification of the signs of abuse and neglect and explaining the process for reporting abuse. If you have not had this training in the past, we  strongly urge you to sign up. The training is FREE and a free lunch will be provided. Please register by March 23rd by signing up on the bulletin  board in the narthex or here.

Weather Policy

In case of inclement weather, the policy of DBIC is to cancel any morning activities if Northern York School District is on a 2-hour delay.  This would not impact afternoon and evening activities.  All activities will be canceled if the district is closed for the day or dismisses early due to the weather.  If there are activities on the weekends or days when school is not in session, please check for radio and TV (ABC27) announcements or our website for information regarding closures.
